Ebony and Ivory.
Sir James Paul McCartney
(Sir James) Paul McCartney needs little introduction to anyone remotely interested in popular music. Paul is an English musician, singer-songwriter and composer. He is a founding member of The Beatles (1960), and after they disbanded in 1970, he created Wings in 1971, which disbanded in 1981. He is reputed to be the world’s most commercially successful songwriter of all time.
Paul plays 7 instruments, including the piano, as well as supplying vocals and has been active musically since 1957, and is still performing today. He has written film scores, classical and electronic music, as well as many songs as a solo artist.
“Ebony and Ivory”, recorded with Stevie Wonder, was released in 1982 and became a number one hit in the UK and the United States.
Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder, born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, was born in 1950. His name was later changed to Stevland Hardaway Morris, but he adopted the stage name of Stevie Wonder. Mainly known as a singer/piano player, he is also an accomplished multi-istrumentalist (he plays 13 instruments, as well as performing vocals), record producer, and still has time to be an activist.
Although being blind from just after birth, Stevie signed with Motown Records at the age of 11, and continues to perform and record for them. He has released at least 30 US top 10 hits and has won 22 Grammy Awards.
Stevie has too many Awards to mention, and has contributed a great deal to Peace Movements, and been instrumental in keeping civil rights to the forefront of the American conscious.
Stevie was prominent in the making of the fundraising for Africa song “We Are The World”.
