Elton John…

Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, is one of the most well-known piano players of all time.  He is an English singer-songwriter, composer and pianist.  He plays piano and keyboards, whilst performing his own compositions.  He is one of the most successful artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records.

Elton John has won six Grammy Awards an Academy Award (for his hit song “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”), a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award. He received one of his Grammy Awards in 1994 as the Best Male Vocal Performance for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”.

In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked him Number 49 on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.

Elton John was one of the many performers who donated his talent to the LiveAid fundraising concert for poverty in Africa, which was held at the Wembley Stadium in 1985.

Although anouncing his retirement from performing in 1977, Elton John continues to release albums, and The Union was release in 2010, in collaboration with American singer-songwriter and sideman Leon Russell.
